MORE DETAILS

Hyracodon is an extinct genus of rhinos and lived in the late Eocene to early Oligocene 37-29 million years ago in North America. The genus belongs to the earliest representatives of this mammal group, but had no horn formation in contrast to numerous later forms.
The animals reached the size of today's cattle and lived in open forest landscapes or alluvial forests, where they mainly fed on soft vegetable diets.
